“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name.”
And John wrote:
“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1)
If we are believing and trusting Jesus Christ, then that is what we are; children of the living God.
But many people will not have God as their father. He will be unknown to them.
Jesus came across many who refused to submit to His teaching, and He said to them;
“If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I came from God and now I am here. I have not come on My own; but He sent Me. Why is My language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father the devil.” (John 8:42)
What an abrupt thing to say! But it needed to be said.
We all need to ask ourselves the question; ‘Who is my father?’
Not who is our earthly blood father.
But is God our Father, or is the Devil our father?
If it is the latter, we will have a bitter eternity.
If God is our Father then what peace and joy is stored up for us!
